P&P National Championship

22 March 2021

In an edition that broke the record for participants (73) on the stage of Aldeia dos Capuchos, Miguel Pinheiro, the young athlete of Paredes Golf Club, only 14 years old, won the National Pitch & Putt Championship.

It was only the second time Pinheiro participated in the competition, but he played well enough to lift the trophy, after a duel with the big favorite to win, the title holder and five-time champion Hugo Espírito Santo, who was the runner-up. Pinheiro thus became one of the youngest Portuguese champions in the specialty. In 2014, João Maria Pontes, then representing the Porto Golf Club, won at 13 years old, after Hugo Vieira, also from Porto, won in 2012, the year he turned 14.
