In their first appearances in the finals of the Portuguese Golf Federation Cup - BPI 2020, Pedro Lencart and Leonor Medeiros did not miss the opportunity to win in the debut, in a 34th edition that took place at the end of October at Montado Hotel & Golf Resort, in Palmela.
Spaniard Santiago Vega de Seone and Finnish Minna Kaarnalahti were the winners of the III International Mid-Amateur Championship of Portugal, which took place in November at Troia Golf Club. The first edition of the National Mid-Amateur Circuit came to an end, rewarding the best in the Gold and Silver rankings of the Road to Troia.
In an edition that broke the record for participants (73) on the stage of Aldeia dos Capuchos, Miguel Pinheiro, the young athlete of Paredes Golf Club, only 14 years old, won the National Pitch & Putt Championship.
In order to provide Portuguese professionals with stronger competitive opportunities, similar to what happened last season with the National Absolute Championship, the Portuguese Golf Federation will open participation on its national circuit to all registered professionals in 2021.Additionally, each of the 5 tournaments that make up the circuit will include separate flights for Amateur Men, Amateur Women and Professionals (mixed). For the professionals, in an innovative way, a purse amounting to € 7,500 will be in dispute at each tournament, with no gender distinction.
The European Challenge Tour announced at the end of January the Road to Mallorca calendar for 2021, which will include 25 tournaments in 15 different countries, distributed throughout the world, including Portugal. The Portugal Open will take place from September 23 to 26, again at the magnificent Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort, and will feature € 200,000 in prize money.
